I would agree with what the other reviewers say about the beauty and functionality, however, neither Amazon nor the manufacturer provide adequate warnings about the suggested use of the product. Let's be fair, most people buy a chairmat because they have a carpeted floor and it's too hard to roll your office chair on that. But this particular floormat is intended only for use on hard floors.
As soon as I rolled it out on my carpeted floor, I thought "Uh-oh! this isn't going to work!" The wood slats are pretty thin; when you roll a chair over them in this situation, the slats flex so much it seems that damage is iminent. And it feels way too flimsy anyway.
Many people do use these to protect hardwood floors from being scratched up due to the constant rolling of an office chair. This chairmat should work fine for that. But NOT for carpets!

This is a terrific product. It looks beautiful, and it's much easier to use than the plastic office chair mats. A chair on rollers moves easier, and it's easy to transport from one room to another. The light colored mat blends beautifully with oak floors. Get the dark mat only if you have very dark wood floors or want a dramatic contrast.

Not only is this wood mat functional but it has improved the look of our entire little office. It's easy to clean and very durable.
